This Sauvignon Blanc is a perfect example of affordable (only $12!) and unclassified table wine (Vin de France) that is still high-quality.
Not only is the nose considerably complex, featuring notes of pear and lychee, followed by everything from lemongrass, to honeysuckle, to limestone and river rock, but the palate is also well-balanced. It boasts both good acidity and minerality while still being quite smooth and enjoyable.
A typical sauvignon blanc from southwest France, this medium-bodied white wine would be excellent to pair with simple bread and butter, olive tapenade, and perhaps some salumi. When pairing with a main course, it would go well with creamier white sauces or well-seasoned potatoes.
